Three suspects were arrested and a firearm and quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Central Division during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Cunupia district on Tuesday.
Task Force officers conducted the exercise between 3 pm and 10 pm during which they stopped a white Nissan AD Wagon at the corner of Chin Chin and Madras Roads, Cunupia, with three male occupants.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of one revolver loaded with three rounds of ammunition.
The three suspects; all aged 26, of Arouca, San Juan and Claxton Bay, were arrested in connection with the find.
Further checks revealed that the vehicle bore a false number plate. Meanwhile, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force with the
assistance of the Canine Branch, conducted an exercise in the El Socorro district, between 3 pm and 8 pm, yesterday, during which
they proceeded to an abandoned lot of land at Jojo Lane.
A search of the area resulted in the discovery of a pistol loaded with a magazine containing 12 rounds of ammunition. Two additional
empty magazines and a quantity of cocaine were also found at the location.
In the Northern Division, officers of the Arima Intelligence and Operations Unit conducted an exercise between 8:30 pm and 11:30 pm, yesterday, which resulted in the discovery of a firearm loaded with four rounds of ammunition.
