Three men appeared before the San Fernando High Court jointly charged with home invasion and malicious damage arising out of an incident earlier this month.
According to a statement from the TTPS, Naresh Joseph, 34, Ricardo Baptiste, 24, and Renando Baptiste, 22, all security officers, appeared before High Court Master Sarah De Silva on April 27 in connection with the matter.
The charges relate to an incident on April 20 involving a 42-year-old man. Police said the man had a verbal dispute with the three accused while at a bar before returning to his home along Philippine Road, San Fernando.
Around 11 pm that night, the three men allegedly went to the victim’s home and began throwing objects, damaging a window and a sheet of plyboard. It is further alleged that they entered the house, where a scuffle broke out.
Investigators alleged that one of the accused was armed with a firearm and made threats to kill, while the other two made threats of violence against the victim.
The altercation was eventually stopped by family members, and the men were removed from the premises.
A report was later made to the San Fernando Police Station, and PC Cabrera was assigned to investigate the matter. Following enquiries, instructions were given to charge the trio.
Each man was granted bail in the sum of $200,000 with surety. They are expected to return to court for a sufficiency hearing.
