A 15-year-old To­ba­go school­boy is ex­pect­ed to miss the first day of the new aca­d­e­m­ic year to­day, as he re­mains in po­lice cus­tody fol­low­ing the death of his grand­fa­ther.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, the teenag­er, a Form Four stu­dent, was in­volved in an al­ter­ca­tion with his grand­fa­ther on Sat­ur­day.

The el­der­ly man sus­tained in­juries dur­ing the in­ci­dent and was tak­en to the Scar­bor­ough Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal for treat­ment. De­spite the ef­forts of med­ical staff, he died yes­ter­day.

Of­fi­cers from the Shir­van Po­lice Sta­tion have de­tained the teen for ques­tion­ing as in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the man's death con­tin­ue. - Stephon Nicholas
