The Division of Education, Research and Technology (DERTech) has assured that all 57 schools under its purview, as well as the Roxborough Trade Centre, will be ready to receive staff and students on Monday 8th September, 2025.
DERTech said this year’s School Repair Programme was backed by a $20 million budget and prioritised 26 schools for urgent works. Secretary of Education, Research and Technology, Assemblyman Zorisha A. Hackett, said all 26 schools are either fully ready or in the final stages of preparation, and will open as scheduled.
She added, “Attempts to create confusion or sow doubt about the readiness of Tobago’s schools cannot erase the facts. Tobago has 57 schools, along with the Roxborough Trade Centre, and with the $20 million allocation, we deliberately prioritised 26 schools requiring the most urgent interventions. Every one of those schools has been addressed, every one is ready or near-ready, and all will open on Monday. The people of Tobago deserve clarity and confidence, not manufactured chaos.”
This assurance comes one day after the Ministry of Education confirmed that all schools in Trinidad are also set to open on Monday.
