The Di­vi­sion of Ed­u­ca­tion, Re­search and Tech­nol­o­gy (DERTech) has as­sured that all 57 schools un­der its purview, as well as the Rox­bor­ough Trade Cen­tre, will be ready to re­ceive staff and stu­dents on Mon­day 8th Sep­tem­ber, 2025.

DERTech said this year’s School Re­pair Pro­gramme was backed by a $20 mil­lion bud­get and pri­ori­tised 26 schools for ur­gent works. Sec­re­tary of Ed­u­ca­tion, Re­search and Tech­nol­o­gy, As­sem­bly­man Zor­isha A. Hack­ett, said all 26 schools are ei­ther ful­ly ready or in the fi­nal stages of prepa­ra­tion, and will open as sched­uled.

She added, “At­tempts to cre­ate con­fu­sion or sow doubt about the readi­ness of To­ba­go’s schools can­not erase the facts. To­ba­go has 57 schools, along with the Rox­bor­ough Trade Cen­tre, and with the $20 mil­lion al­lo­ca­tion, we de­lib­er­ate­ly pri­ori­tised 26 schools re­quir­ing the most ur­gent in­ter­ven­tions. Every one of those schools has been ad­dressed, every one is ready or near-ready, and all will open on Mon­day. The peo­ple of To­ba­go de­serve clar­i­ty and con­fi­dence, not man­u­fac­tured chaos.”

This as­sur­ance comes one day af­ter the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion con­firmed that all schools in Trinidad are al­so set to open on Mon­day.
