A tradesman from Diego Martin has been sentenced to hang for murdering a 21-year-old man in 2008.
It took a 12-member jury before Justice Carla Brown-Antoine at the Hall of Justice in Port-of-Spain almost 20 minutes to return with the unanimous guilty verdict for 38-year-old McLean Delpeche, of Farm Road, Richplain, Diego Martin.
Delpeche was charged with murdering Elijah Baksh on May 30, 2008.
Baksh, originally of Lowlands, Tobago, was seated in a car parked along Norfolk Street in Belmont when he was shot several times.
Immediately after the jury foreman delivered the verdict, Brown-Antoine handed down the mandatory death penalty for murder.
Delpeche is also awaiting trial for the murders of T&T Defence Force (TTDF) Cpl Ancil Wallace, also of Richplain, Diego Martin, and his best friend Noel Charles, of Cocorite.
Wallace, 46, and 42-year-old Charles were at Wallace's home celebrating the christening of his son when they were attacked on June 15, 2008.
Delpeche was represented by Kawsi Bekoe, while Veona Neal-Munroe prosecuted.
