This country’s COVID-19 fighting ability has been boosted with a substantial donation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supplies and finances, courtesy the Government of the Republic of Korea.

The much-needed equipment was handed over on Friday 31 July 2020, to Chief Medical Officer Dr. Roshan Parasram and Deputy Permanent Secretary Brenda Jeffers, at the Ministry of Health, by His Excellency Moonup Sung, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea.

An official statement from the Embassy reports that the donation consisted of PPE suits, face shields, and hand sanitisers to be utilized in the treatment of COVID-19 cases in Trinidad and Tobago.

“It is our hope that this donation will contribute to overcoming some of the challenges caused by COVID-19 and will be a strong testimony of our long-standing friendship between our two countries and two peoples,” said Ambassador Sung.

The financial donation of US $100,000 in humanitarian support is being done through the CARICOM Secretariat, and goes towards the COVID-19 emergency and recovery efforts in Trinidad and Tobago.

“We also hope that this donation will provide much needed support to the Ministry of Health in safeguarding the public of Trinidad and Tobago while alleviating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,” the ambassador noted.
