The police service has been plunged into mourning following the sudden death of an officer, who fell ill at his home.
In a statement Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, the executive, and officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, are extending their deepest condolences on the sudden death of Acting Inspector Danraj Maharaj, who was last assigned to the Morvant Police Station.
According to the TTPS, Maharaj, 49, complained of chest and back pains around 5.30 am today, Thursday 7th January, at his home in Cunupia.
He was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
It is suspected that he died as a result of a heart attack.
His body was removed pending an autopsy.
Funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days.
