Elizabeth Singh of Naparima Girls’ High School and Aaliyah Serrett of Bishop Anstey High School East and Trinity College East have been awarded the President’s Medal for their outstanding performance in the 2025 CAPE examinations.
The announcement was made in the Lower House on Friday by Tertiary Education and Skills Training Minister Professor Prakash Persad.
Singh topped the Environmental Studies, Information and Communication Technology, Mathematics and Natural Sciences grouping, while Serrett won in the Business Studies, Creative and Performative Studies, Language Studies, Modern Studies, Humanities and Technical Studies grouping.
Professor Persad also disclosed that 105 national scholarships were awarded this year, 66 to female students and 39 to males, at an annual cost of TT$35.8 million.
Congratulating the awardees, the minister said he hoped their success would inspire others. He reminded scholarship recipients that their academic performance would be monitored by the ministry’s Scholarship Department and urged them to maintain the required cumulative grade point average.
Professor Persad added that the nation now looks forward to the scholars’ contributions after completing their studies.
