Two men have been ar­rest­ed by the Child Pro­tec­tion Unit in the past week and charged with sex­u­al of­fences against mi­nors.

Yes­ter­day, a Gas­par­il­lo man ap­peared be­fore San Fer­nan­do Mag­is­trate charged with one count of sex­u­al touch­ing of a child.

The man was ar­rest­ed and charged with of­fence on Mon­day.

Po­lice were told that on Sat­ur­day, May 30 this year, the 15-year-old was asleep in the liv­ing room of her home when she awak­ened by the man, who was sex­u­al­ly as­sault­ing her.

The child told her moth­er about the in­ci­dent, and po­lice were alert­ed, prompt­ing the man to go in­to hid­ing.

He was even­tu­al­ly ar­rest­ed with the help of the Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Re­sponse Team (SORT).

In an­oth­er in­ci­dent, a man ap­peared be­fore a San­gre Grande Mag­is­trate yes­ter­day charged with sex­u­al pen­e­tra­tion of a child, sex­u­al touch­ing of a child and ex­pos­ing a child to pornog­ra­phy.

The East­ern Di­vi­sion Child Pro­tec­tion Unit (CPU) po­lice of­fi­cers ar­rest­ed the 53-year-old man last Wednes­day, Sep­tem­ber 9.

He was charged with one count of each of­fence on Mon­day by WPC Brooks, of the East­ern CPU.

Po­lice, af­ter be­ing con­tact­ed by the vic­tim’s moth­er, was told by the 12-year-old girl on Fri­day, Ju­ly 3, that a man known to her al­leged­ly sex­u­al­ly as­sault­ed her on two oc­ca­sions this year.

The vic­tim al­so told po­lice that the man sent her nude pic­tures of him­self via What­sApp.
