Two men for whom police had been seeking for some time, were finally arrested during a lockdown police exercise in Arima yesterday.
Police officers locked down several areas between 10 am and 4 pm on Wednesday and Thursday and were able to arrest the two men, aged 21 and 36. One was wanted for breaking and entering and the other for robbery. Both men were arrested at about 11.30 am at Sherwood Park in Arima.
During the exercise, officers also received information and went to four locations in the Arouca district where they seized a black and chrome revolver with two rounds of .38 ammunition, a black and chrome Jericho 941 Israel Military Industry pistol fitted with one magazine and five rounds of 9mm ammunition, and a black Taurus .45 Raging John Magnum Revolver pistol.
The officers also found 27 packets containing cocaine which weighed 575 grammes, as well as carcasses of wild meat in a refrigerator.
The individuals were arrested for various offences—possession of an apparatus, possession of cocaine, and being found in a place where dangerous drugs are used.
The officers that participated in the exercises were from the Major Operations Unit, Northern Division Task Force and Operation Strike Back Unit led by Snr Sup David Sup Edwards, ASP Gyan and Task Force Sgts Pitt and Mascall.
Police promised many more exercises like this in the near future.
