Ten individuals, eight men and two women, have been detained under Preventative Detention Orders (PDOs).
The Minister of Homeland Security, Roger Alexander, issued the orders between March 19 and June 5, authorising detention at the Eastern Correctional Rehabilitation Centre in Santa Rosa, Arima; the Women’s Prison at Golden Grove or other designated facilities.
The women named in the orders are Anika Chadee of Piparo and Akeema Ferguson of Longdenville/Edinburgh 500. Both were detained on allegations linked to organised crime groups, including possession of firearms and involvement in facilitating or supporting planned armed activity, according to the detention orders.
Among the male detainees, two cases were identified in the orders as presenting particular operational risk due to the nature of the alleged planned offences.
Jasiniho Boneo, also known as “Elmo” of Tunapuna, was detained after being identified in confidential intelligence and law enforcement investigations as a primary operative within an organised crime group.
The order states that he had access to advanced information on local commercial cash flows and was allegedly preparing to carry out an armed assault on Fred’s Meat Shop near the Tunapuna Market, with intent to steal more than $200,000.
Another detainee, Curtis Isaac, also known as “Donkey” and “Road” of Morvant, was identified in the order as an armed enforcer for an organised crime group involved in escalating gang conflict.
Intelligence further indicated he had been acting under standing orders following the killing of a gang member known as Jamal Carter, alias “Big Joe”, and that he and others intended to escalate violent public attacks.
Other detainees named in the orders include Shane Dindial, Mark Williams, Nicholas Sumner, Wayne Havelock, Eric Goring and Akeem Cole, all of whom were detained on allegations involving organised crime activity, firearms possession, narcotics trafficking and planned violent offences across multiple districts.
