The unoccupied home of a Moruga man who died one month ago was destroyed by fire on Monday night.

The blaze occurred around 11 pm at Penal Rock Road. A neighbour told police there was a sudden drop in voltage, followed by crackling sounds before the house caught fire. The structure was a single-storey, two-bedroom plywood house that had been fitted with electricity.

Police said the family had removed all appliances from the house after the man’s death.

Fire officers, led by Fire Substation Officer Modeste-La Focade, extinguished the blaze. Investigations are ongoing.
