The validity of the current visa application processing fee at the US Embassy—also known as the MRV fee payment—has been extended until December 31, 2021.
Confirmation has come from the US Embassy in Port of Spain in an advisory that states those whose visa appointments were impacted by “the suspension of routine consular operations during the COVID-19 pandemic, will be able to schedule and/or attend a visa appointment” until that deadline date, using the fee they already would have paid.
Normally, MRV fees are valid for only one year.
The U.S. Embassy in Port of Spain also advises that it is continuing to process visas that qualify for interview waivers. It also notes that it is working diligently to restore routine visa operations as quickly and safely as possible, while still complying with host government guidelines.
Those requiring the U.S. Embassy’s services are asked to continue monitoring its website and social media outlets for information on when the embassy will return to routine visa operations.
