The U.S. Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort will visit Trinidad and Tobago from August 5 to 11 as part of the Continuing Promise 2025 mission. The vessel will be moored in Port-of-Spain.
Medical teams from the USNS Comfort will work with the Ministry of Health and local health professionals to provide free medical services from August 7 to 9 at the National Academy for the Performing Arts in Port-of-Spain. Services will include adult and pediatric care, dental services, optometry, physical therapy, and dermatology.
Clinics will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. No pre-registration is required. Patients are advised to bring national identification if possible. Each consultation will address one medical issue per patient. Patients may return for additional consultations.
Basic surgical care will be provided on board the USNS Comfort for individuals pre-selected and screened by the Ministry of Health from existing waiting lists. Only these patients will receive treatment aboard the ship.
The visit also includes professional exchanges on health care, disaster response, and law enforcement. The U.S. Fleet Forces Band “Uncharted Waters” will perform free concerts during the ship’s stay.
U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Dr. Jenifer Neidhart de Ortiz said the visit highlights the ongoing partnership between the two countries.
Commander of U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet Rear Adm. Carlos Sardiello said the mission reinforces regional cooperation and support.
This is the USNS Comfort’s second visit to Trinidad and Tobago.
