Valsayn residents shot in Tobago

Two Val­sayn res­i­dents es­caped death in To­ba­go af­ter gun­men shot at them dur­ing a birth­day par­ty on Thurs­day night in Mt Pleas­ant.

Three peo­ple were in­jured in the shoot­ing in­ci­dent. The vic­tims were Garvin Tim­o­thy and De­siree Lawrence, both from Val­sayn, and Pre­ston Mal­colm of Roberts Street, Mt Pleas­ant. 

Po­lice told Guardian Me­dia the vic­tims were at­tend­ing the birth­day cel­e­bra­tion at a friend’s home on Robert Street when around 9.30, three men armed with ri­fles ap­proached the gath­er­ing and opened fire on the group in the yard.

The sus­pects fled the scene on foot and es­caped through Pleas­ant Lo­cal Road.

The in­jured vic­tims were trans­port­ed to Scar­bor­ough Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal by emer­gency med­ical ser­vices and are cur­rent­ly re­ceiv­ing med­ical treat­ment. 

This in­ci­dent comes just a few days af­ter an­oth­er man was shot and killed in that area.

Po­lice said Nathan Roach of Mt Pleas­ant was killed around 11.50 pm on June 30 af­ter gun­men en­tered his home and shot him.

Rel­a­tives took him to the Scar­bor­ough Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he was pro­nounced dead.

The gun­men then re­turned to his home seek­ing an­oth­er male rel­a­tive, who man­aged to es­cape with his life.
