With placards in hand and tears in their eyes, the daughters, relatives and friends of Theodore “Beast” Gunpat walked through Ortoire Village on Monday night, pleading for answers nearly two weeks after the 67-year-old Mayaro man vanished without a trace.

Gunpat was last seen on July 23. Relatives said he collected a vehicle from a mechanic and was picked up by someone to head to Rio Claro on business. He never returned. A missing person report was filed shortly after.

His daughters, Vicki and Laurel Gunpat, led the walk from Coconut Drive to their father’s home in Point Radix, where the family held a candlelight vigil.

“We are not giving up. He will come home to us dead or alive,” said Vicki.

“Monsters took our dad away. Daddy, we love you. We miss you.”

She warned others to be cautious.

“Be mindful of your surroundings and the people you think you can trust,” she said.

Always let someone know where you are. Move in twos, threes, or fours. The world is full of evil people. Could never be human beings.”

The Hunters’ Search and Rescue team, led by Shamshudeen Ayube, has been combing the area every day since Gunpat’s disappearance.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Rio Claro Police Station, or the Hunters team at 477-2031.

Mayaro MP Nicholas Morris and councillor Delverne Louison also attended the vigil.
