Improved weather conditions have allowed several surface water treatment plants in north Trinidad to resume normal operations, according to a 2:00 pm update from the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) on Monday 19 May 2025.
WASA has confirmed that plants at Guanapo, Mc David, Caura, Acono, L&N, and Quare have now returned to service.
These facilities supply areas such as:
● Guanapo: Parts of Arima, Pinto Road, Mt Pleasant, Calvary Hill
● Mc David: Surrey Village, parts of Lopinot
● Caura: El Dorado, Tacarigua, parts of Tunapuna
● Acono: Parts of Maracas, St Joseph
● L&N: Parts of Maracas, St Joseph
● Quare: Parts of Valencia

However, WASA reported that several other facilities remain affected.
These include:
● Aripo (serving Santa Rosa Heights, Pinto Road, Tumpuna Road and parts of Valencia)
● Las Cuevas, Rincon, La Fillette (serving those named areas)
● La Pastora (serving La Pastora and Lopinot) – still impacted by high turbidity from heavy rainfall
● North Oropouche – operating at reduced capacity due to flooded river conditions affecting screens
● Blanchisseuse – still affected
WASA said that high turbidity caused by heavy rainfall and clogged screens due to flooding continue to delay full restoration at some locations.
The authority is assuring the public that efforts are ongoing to restore service to all areas as soon as possible.
