A 50-year-old supervisor with the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA), was gunned down while driving in Blanchisseuse yesterday morning.
Police said Junior Lee Quay was driving his silver Nissan Frontier on the Paria Main Road, at around 10.23 am when he was shot several times by gunmen who lay in wait at the side of the road.
Lee Quay lost control of the van and crashed into a ditch. Passers by heard the sound of gunfire and called the police.
Police together with soldiers visited the scene with a district medical officer who declared Lee Quay dead at the scene.
Investigators found a quantity of spent shells and live rounds of ammunition, including 9 mm, .22 calibre, 7.62 and 5.56 rounds on the road.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II visited the scene.
Lee Quay’s van was towed to the Special Evidence Recovery Unit (SERU), Cumuto for ballistics analysis.
No motive has been established for the killing.
Lee Quay’s murder brought the murder toll to 170 as of Monday afternoon, compared to 249 for the same period in 2024.
