WASA supervisor killed in Blanchisseuse

A 50-year-old su­per­vi­sor with the Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­i­ty (WASA), was gunned down while dri­ving in Blan­chisseuse yes­ter­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said Ju­nior Lee Quay was dri­ving his sil­ver Nis­san Fron­tier on the Paria Main Road, at around 10.23 am when he was shot sev­er­al times by gun­men who lay in wait at the side of the road.

Lee Quay lost con­trol of the van and crashed in­to a ditch. Passers by heard the sound of gun­fire and called the po­lice.

Po­lice to­geth­er with sol­diers vis­it­ed the scene with a dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer who de­clared Lee Quay dead at the scene.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors found a quan­ti­ty of spent shells and live rounds of am­mu­ni­tion, in­clud­ing 9 mm, .22 cal­i­bre, 7.62 and 5.56 rounds on the road.

Of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions Re­gion II vis­it­ed the scene.

Lee Quay’s van was towed to the Spe­cial Ev­i­dence Re­cov­ery Unit (SERU), Cu­mu­to for bal­lis­tics analy­sis.

No mo­tive has been es­tab­lished for the killing.

Lee Quay’s mur­der brought the mur­der toll to 170 as of Mon­day af­ter­noon, com­pared to 249 for the same pe­ri­od in 2024.
