The following is the bulletin issued by the Met Service to 10:00 am, today, covering the period: this afternoon and tonight…
TRINIDAD, TOBAGO AND THE WINDWARD ISLANDS
This afternoon will see cloudy to overcast conditions with periods of rain and/or showers in broad areas. There is also a high (70-80%) chance of heavy showers and thunderstorms. These conditions will persist overnight. Gusty winds and street/flash flooding may occur near heavy showers/thunderstorms.
● Riverine Flood Alert #1 – YELLOW Level is in effect, for the Caroni River Basin and its tributaries.
After rainfall overnight and today, river levels along the Caroni River are currently near 90% and continue to rise. With occasional periods of heavy showers still likely over the next 24 hours, this additional rainfall can keep the river levels elevated, so there remains a moderate risk to public safety, livelihood and property.
Instructions: Carefully monitor weather conditions and river/water levels. Monitor updates from official sources and plan safety measures, including emergency supplies of food and water. Do not take unnecessary risks. Follow the instructions of government officials.

● Adverse Weather Alert #1 – YELLOW Level comes into effect at 2pm today, for Trinidad and Tobago and surrounding marine areas.
Periods of rain and/or showers of varying intensities are expected from the afternoon on Tuesday 22nd November 2022, commencing over Tobago and eastern areas of Trinidad as an active low-level tough traverses westward over our area.
There is also a high (70-80%) chance of heavy showers and thunderstorms that can produce intense rainfall between 25-50 mm and in excess of this amount in isolated areas. Gusty winds in excess of 55 km/h may be experienced especially in the vicinity of heavy showers/thunderstorms.
Street/flash flooding and localized ponding are also likely in heavy downpours. Seas can become agitated at times in sheltered areas. Landslides/landslips are also possible in areas so prone.
Instructions: Do not wade or drive through flood waters. Secure loose outdoor items and livestock. Monitor weather conditions and official updates.
