"Water, The Priority Agenda" will be the topic when The Lloyd Best Institute of the West Indies kicks off the 2010 edition of its annual "Seminar for Professionals" series next week. The seminar takes place on April 13 from 5.30 pm at the Audio Visual Room of the Nalis Building corner of Hart and Queen Streets, Port of Spain.
The evening's discussion will be led off by two presenters. Angelo Bissessarsingh will deliver an historical perspective on water in T&T while Dr Lester Forde, a member of the Steering Committee of the Global Water Partnership, will address the critical issues surrounding the management of T&T's water resources and factors affecting water security in the Caribbean and beyond.
Among the topics expected to be covered from the floor is that of the ownership of T&T's water resources. This matter has recently come to the fore with WASA's announcement of a licence requirement for taking water from the ground.
