A 64-year-old woman is fear­ful for her life af­ter she was beat­en and robbed on Mon­day.

Sun­dar Jookoo, the lo­cal gov­ern­ment rep­re­sen­ta­tive for Fe­lic­i­ty on the Ch­agua­nas Bor­ough Cor­po­ra­tion, vis­it­ed Shan­ti Karpat at her home and place of busi­ness yes­ter­day.

Jookoo said he was ap­palled to see the woman’s in­juries and to know the or­deal she faced.

Karpat, who op­er­ates a bar at Nolan Street, was robbed around mid­day.

She told po­lice two men walked in­to the bar and point­ed a gun at her. Be­fore she could even re­sist, one of the men be­gan beat­ing her about the head with the pis­tol be­fore leav­ing with cash and valu­ables.

Jookoo said, “Ms Karpat is a mem­ber of the com­mu­ni­ty, she is an el­der­ly per­son. We are see­ing more bold faced and brazen day light rob­beries tak­ing place.”
