A Chaguanas woman who stopped to urinate at the side of the road and left her boyfriend and her best friend in the car was accosted and robbed by two men. The men later tied up and shot the woman’s companion in the foot.

Police said the 27-year-old woman of Enterprise was driving her white Mazda 323 around 11 pm on Monday, when she stopped to relieve herself along Marshall Road, Carlsen Field, Chaguanas.

As she squatted at the side of the road, the female victim was approached by two men, one was armed with a gun.

She was made to lie face-down on the road, tied up and beaten about the head, while her boyfriend, 31, from Barrackpore, was ordered out of the car and tied up before he was shot in the right foot.

The female friend was also tied up and robbed.

The trio were relieved of cash, phones and valuables before the suspects sped off in the victim’s car.

A passer-by stopped and alerted the police, and officers of the Central Division Task Force responded and took the victims to the Chaguanas Health Facility where the couple was treated and then transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, where they remained in stable condition.

One spent shell casing was recovered at the scene.
