Woman knocked out with chemical spray, robbed in Tunapuna

Tu­na­puna po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing an in­ci­dent where a 53-year-old woman was knocked un­con­scious by a man us­ing a chem­i­cal in a rag and then robbed on Sun­day af­ter­noon.

Po­lice said the woman got in­to a car she thought was a taxi on Bharath Street, Tu­na­puna, around 1 p.m.

Three oth­er men were in the car at the time and on reach­ing St Au­gus­tine Cir­cu­lar Road, she saw one of the back­seat pas­sen­gers pull out a rag and spray an un­known liq­uid in­to it.

The man then pulled the woman's hair and pressed the damp rag on­to her face.

The woman re­port­ed feel­ing dizzy be­fore los­ing con­scious­ness.

She re­cov­ered hours lat­er around 5 pm at the cor­ner of the Pasea Main Road and the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route on­ly to re­alise her cell­phone and the $3,500 cash she was car­ry­ing were miss­ing.
