DisruptHR is coming to T&T.
The event, which allows industry professionals to discuss a wide range of topics on improving the workplace, will be hosted in Trinidad on June 28 from 6 pm-9 pm at the Sound Forge, 1 Christopher Samuel Drive, St James.
Organiser of DisruptHR Caribbean (Barbados, Trinidad & Jamaica) and owner of HR@Heart Consulting Inc Julie Turney said the concept of the event was built on the belief that the traditional methods of managing people and talent are no longer sufficient; thus, DisruptHR sought to bring together thought leaders and changemakers to share their insights and ideas in a dynamic and interactive setting.
“DisruptHR events feature fast-paced presentations from a diverse range of speakers who are given just five minutes to share their innovative ideas on various topics related to people relations. These bite-sized talks are designed to challenge and inspire and will leave you with plenty of food for thought,” she said.
This year the speakers are Debbie Jollie, Akeisha Mc Donald, Cindy Wilson, Jason Jack, Nicole Fisher, Dr Rochelle Haynes, Leah De Souza, Kimberly Chan, Stacey Ramsamooj, Keron Rose, Charlene Pedro, Natasha Nunez and Julie Turney and Sunny Bling is hosting the event.
Turney said people should prepare to expect awesome presentations from the 13 speakers, who are all bringing their A-game on June 28.
“Get ready to rock and roll because our speaker lineup is pure dynamite! We have not one, not two, but 13 rockstar speakers ready to take the stage and share their ideas on making the world of work a better place for everyone.
“But wait, there’s more! Each speaker is given just 20 slides, with only 15 seconds on each slide before it rotates. That’s right, they’ve just got five minutes to deliver their message and ignite your passion for change.
“The speakers will discuss various topics, from recruitment to mental health in the workplace, from innovative human resource practices to the power of storytelling in employee engagement. So, get ready for a whirlwind of ideas, insights, and inspiration,” she said.
Disrupt HR has become the go-to event for industry experts and business professionals in Barbados for the past four years. Reflecting on the journey, she said that she was pleased that despite starting Disrupt HR at the beginning of the pandemic that she and her team have been able to continue to provide the space for professionals to shine.
“We started at the beginning of the pandemic, and we could only host one face-to-face event before the lockdown. After that, we had to take the events virtual, which came with its own set of challenges because the originators of the event series did not want organisers to use the same format that is used in the face-to-face setting, so the team and I had to get creative. We were able to host panel discussions on thought-provoking topics related to navigating the pandemic, and they were very well attended.
Our biggest challenge has been acquiring sponsorship, but it has not stopped us from moving forward. Our vision is clear, and we will succeed no matter the obstacle.
This year not only will Disrupt HR be hosted in Barbados, but it will also be held in T&T and Jamaica.
“We are incredibly privileged to have the esteemed partnership of The Human Resource Management Association of T&T (HRMATT) for this significant occasion. The support and collaboration of the HR association in the country is invaluable to our success, and HRMATT has shown unwavering commitment to ensuring the success of this event,” she expressed.
“We are pleased also to welcome Sunny Bling as our host for DisruptHR Trinidad, and we look forward to working with him to build the event series here. It is always our endeavour to have a diverse mix of local, regional and international speakers for these events as we see this as a great way to share diverse thoughts on improving the workplace,” she said.
The HR professional and businesswoman said that Disrupt HR Trinidad 1.0 will encourage members of the audience to participate as well as they could walk away with prizes from their sponsors.
To this end, Turney wished to thank her sponsors and team for their dedication to ensuring that Disrupt HR Trinidad 1.0 is successful.
“I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, Caribbeanjobs.com, Payce Digital, Gildan SRL, HR@HeartConsulting Inc, LFR Educational and Consulting Services Ltd and The Caribbean Society for HR Professionals. More importantly I would like to thank our team Katrina Howell-Thomas, Maria Rowe, Andre Rock, Aura Telman, Rachel Reid, Christal-Ann Downes, Kerri-Anne Brathwaite, Tiffany Jones, Jasmin Turney, Gaynelle Marshall, Dr Rochelle Haynes, and Gale Wiethers.”
