I am writ­ing on be­half of the res­i­dents of David Street to ex­press thanks to the Trinidad Guardian and Deputy May­or and Coun­cil­lor for St Ann's Riv­er North Hillan More­an for his time­ly in­ter­ven­tion in hav­ing a T&TEC crew vis­it and solve our fluc­tu­at­ing volt­age is­sues late on Wednes­day 20th No­vem­ber: the same day that the let­ter we wrote to the Guardian was fea­tured.

How­ev­er, it has re­vealed some­thing very con­cern­ing that has dulled the shine of the yeo­man ser­vice that T&TEC pro­vides. What we found out was that the crew that Coun­cil­lor More­an had asked to come was a crew from the South­ern re­gion! Yes, you read that right.

Now you may ask "Why didn't the crew from the North­ern/Port of Spain re­gion re­spond to our des­per­ate cries?" That too we want to find out be­cause it seems that they could care less about deal­ing with po­ten­tial­ly dan­ger­ous sit­u­a­tions in Gon­za­les.

You may al­so be ask­ing "Well why didn't one of the res­i­dents go to T&TEC head of­fice in P.O.S?". One of the res­i­dents did. They went to see a Cus­tomer Ser­vice Rep the same day (the 20th). She was ex­treme­ly help­ful and went be­yond the call of her sta­tion even to the point of call­ing the men re­spon­si­ble for the dis­patch of work­ers to trou­ble calls.

She too found it odd that they didn't re­spond in a time­ly man­ner to our plight. Dur­ing the con­ver­sa­tion, she re­lat­ed to the res­i­dent that they (dis­patch) called the per­sons that made the re­ports, but we, in­clud­ing the res­i­dent did not re­ceive any call what­so­ev­er, so then, who did they call?

I am urg­ing the per­sons in charge of T&TEC to quick­ly ad­dress the ap­par­ent state of af­fairs where the staff there can­not be both­ered to an­swer pay­ing res­i­dents in gen­uine dis­tress. If it wasn't for coun­cil­lor More­an, where would we be 1 week lat­er?
