Ackerman leads from the front as South Africa ‘A’ seal victory over West Indies ‘A’

GROS ISLET – South Africa ‘A’ cap­tain Mar­cus Ack­er­man hit an un­beat­en 35 to help his side wrap up a sev­en wick­et vic­to­ry against West In­dies ‘A’ on Wednes­day’s fi­nal day in the sec­ond un­of­fi­cial ‘Test’ match at the Daren Sam­my Na­tion­al Crick­et Sta­di­um in St Lu­cia.

Need­ing just 32 runs to seal vic­to­ry on the fi­nal morn­ing of the con­test, South Africa ‘A’, re­sum­ing on their overnight 68-2, reached 100 for three with Ack­er­man seal­ing the win along with wick­et-keep­er Sinethem­ba Qeshile, who chipped in with a valu­able knock of 26 from 42 balls with four fours.

Lhuan-dre Pre­to­rius was the oth­er not-out bats­man with six, as seam­er Jo­hann Layne picked up the on­ly wick­et to fall on the day, when he bowled Qeshile in the 18th over.

The win sealed the se­ries 2-0 in favour of the vis­i­tors.
