Ahye 5th again in Swiss meet

T&T's Michelle-Lee Ahye was fifth again in the women's 100 me­tres at the Gala del Castille In­ter­na­tion­al meet­ing of ath­let­ics at the Mu­nic­i­pal Sta­di­um of Bellinzon­ain in Ti­ci­no, Switzer­land on Tues­day.

It was her sec­ond fifth spot fin­ish in two days and co­in­ci­den­tal­ly, she clocked the same time of 11.19 sec­onds.

Two-time Olympic gold medal­list Ja­maican Shelly-Ann Fras­er-Pryce Ja­maica won in a meet record time of 10.78. Switzer­land run­ners Mu­jin­ga Kam­bund­ji (10.99) and Ajla Del Ponte (11.11), filled the sec­ond third spots, re­spec­tive­ly. Natasha Mor­ri­son of Ja­maica was the oth­er run­ner fin­ish­ing ahead of Ahye with an 11.17-tim­ing.

The sixth to eighth places were filled, re­spec­tive­ly by Ger­many's Alexan­dra Burghardt with 11.30, Poland's An­na Kiel­basin­s­ka with a per­son­al best time of 11.30 and Léonie Pointet of Switzer­land with 11.49.

On Sun­day at the ISTAF Berlin, a World Ath­let­ics con­ti­nen­tal tour sil­ver lev­el se­ries, at the Olympias­ta­dion in Ger­many, Ahye crossed fifth with 11.19 in the dash which was won by Daryll Nei­ta of Great Britain (11.04) with Mor­ri­son in sec­ond place with 11.09 and her Ja­maican com­pa­tri­ot Bri­ana Williams, third in 11.16. Ger­man Alexan­dra Burghardt was the oth­er sprint­er to beat Ahye to the line in 11.17.
