Cen­tral Zone will join South Zone in the 2018 fi­nals of the Flow Sec­ondary Schools hard­ball crick­et tour­na­ment af­ter it de­feat­ed East Zone by 58 runs in the se­mi-fi­nals on Fri­day night at the Bri­an Lara Acad­e­my in Tarou­ba.

Ear­li­er, in the day South Zone ham­mered North/North East by 142 runs and will now face Cen­tral at 2pm on Tues­day, al­so at the Bri­an Lara Acad­e­my.

Cen­tral Zone took first strike in the night cap game and on the back of 51 not out by Shunelle Swah and 17 not out from Hema Ma­habir, guid­ed their team to 139 for five off their 20 overs.

East Zone in re­ply was shot out for just 81 runs with An­na Maria Per­reira scor­ing 46 and Aliyah Gomez 16. How­ev­er, the star of the game was Daylia Alexan­der who took five wick­ets for 17 runs in­clud­ing a hat­trick.

Chair­man of the Sec­ondary Schools Crick­et Coun­cil (SS­CC) Su­ru­j­dath Ma­habir told Guardian Me­dia that he was very hap­py that the girls got the op­por­tu­ni­ty to use the world class venue. "I would like to thank the chair­man of Ude­COTT Noel Gar­cia for his as­sis­tance in this re­gard and it was re­al­ly mag­nan­i­mous of him to leave his busy sched­ule to meet the girls pri­or to the first game on Fri­day."
