Joshua Arnold captured the Boys Under-21 single title after a hard fought three-set (4-6, 6-4 7-5) contest to deny Kobe James yesterday, the final day of the 30th annual Catch National Junior Tennis Championships under good sunny conditions at at the National Racquet Centre in Tacarigua.
Arnold who paired with Adam Escalante to contest doubles title but loss 7-5, 4-6, 10-6 against the duo of Keshan Moonasar/Nabeel Mohammed, used singles opportunity to redeem himself.
Also celebrating as winners were, David Rodriguez who got the better of Ethan Wong 6-2, 63, Beckham Sylvester outlast Jace Quashie to claim the Boys Under-12 crown behind a 4-2, 4-3 (3) final; and Isabel Abraham turned back a game Aalisha Alexis 6-4, 6-1 for the giirls Under-14 title honours.
The senior girls doubles title was bagged by the pair of Victoria Koylass and Yin Lee Assang 6-2, 7-6 (7) over the talented duo of Emma Davis and Mimberly Sabga.
On Wednesday, Anya King and Alexis Bruce emerged Singles champions in the respective divisions in the
King met Yin Lee Assang in the girls Under-18 final and posted a 6-3, 6-1, victory, while Bruce won by the same margin of victory to bag the U-16 title over Keesa Lee Young, who dropped the opening set 6-1 and the second 6-4.
Cameron Wong was another champion on the day, defeating Jordane Dookie, 4-0, 4-1, to seal the Girls U-12 final while Messiah Permell won the Boys U-10 finale after turning back Jordell Chapman, 4-1, 4-3 (3).
In the doubles competition, Jaydon Alexis partnered with Alijah Leslie to win a hard-fought Boys U-18 final against Che Andrews and Kobe James, 7-6 (4), 1-6, 10-8.
The U-14 mixed doubles winner was duo Sebastian Sylvester and Shauna Valentine, who topped Nicholas Ready and Charlotte Ready, 6-3, 6-3.
