T&T’s Jerseem Boodram placed 30th in the men’s golf competition to bring down the curtain on this country’s participation at the second edition of the Junior Pan American Games in Asuncion, Paraguay, Saturday.
Boodram carded a third and final round of 94 (over-22) to add to his previous two rounds of over 11 (83), and over-18 (90) on the par 72 course for a combined score of 266 over-51, only ahead of Panama’s Carlos Sacre, who tallied 274 (over-58).
On Friday night, T&T men’s 4x400-metre quartet stumbled to fourth spot after being involved in a collision with Guyana on the second leg.
The local quartet of Dillon Leacock, Shakeem McKay, Kyrell Thomas and men’s 400m silver medallist Jaden Marchan crossed the line in three minutes, 08.55 seconds while Guyana did not finish.
Brazil won gold in three minutes, 03.76 seconds, with Jamaica second in three minutes, 06.59 seconds and Puerto Rico, third in three minutes, 07.29 seconds.
In the men’s discus final, T&T’s Jaden James had a best mark of 54.13 metres on his first attempt for the sixth spot.
Overall, T&T ended with 11 medals, including one gold, two silver and eight bronze.
