Opener Camilio Carimbocas scored an even hundred, opening for the first time this season, as reigning champion Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) scored 302 batting first away to Preysal at the Inshan Ali Park on Saturday.
Carimbocas struck 11 fours together with three sixes as he scored 100 from 127 balls in his first century for the season. Carimbocas who scored two hundreds opening in back-to-back matches last season before losing his place to make space for returning Red Force players, opened in only his first match this season and it has brought him his first hundred.
Queen’s Park got a good contribution from Kyle Ramdoo who scored 66 and Chadean Raymond who scored 48. Ronaldo Forrester claimed three wickets for Preysal, while Justyn Gangoo and Nathanial McDavid each took two wickets.
At the close of play, Preysal were 45 for the loss of two wickets.
At Barrackpore, former Guyanese and West Indies opener Vishual Singh struck a classy 161 as the home team scored a mammoth 412 for eight declared against Central Sport.
The diminutive batter hit 15 fours and three sixes in his 211-ball knock that propelled the pride of Barrackpore to the biggest total among the teams on Saturday. He was given good support by his compatriot Clinton Pestano who scored 69. Mikkel Govia was Central Sports’ best bowler with two wickets.
At the close of play, Lendl Simmons was on 24 as Central Sport closed on 38 without loss.
Yannick Ottley scored the third hundred of the day as he helped rescue Clarke Road in the Penal derby against Powergen. Coming in at 115 for 5, he joined Red Force all-rounder Mark Deyal who made 96 to score 130. He struck 17 fours in his knock that spanned 283. Clark Road posted 343. Powergen closed on 80 for one.
