The Heat­wave pair of Phillip Clarke and Josias Ve­lasquez sealed the top po­si­tions in the Elite and Un­der-23 Men cat­e­gories when the T&T Cy­cling Fed­er­a­tion held its Ri­ad Race Cy­cle Chal­lenge from the South Oropouche Round­about to La Brea/Ves­signy and back at the week­end (Feb­ru­ary 7-8).

Clarke in 2023 claimed the gold medal in the very same event, along­side Ker­ri Mon­tano. On Sun­day last, Phillip re­turned to dom­i­nate for a sec­ond con­sec­u­tive time, as he com­pet­ed in a field of 13 rid­ers who were re­quired to cov­er a dis­tance of 195.68 kilo­me­tres.

His re­turn to the spot where they start­ed was done af­ter four hours, 37 min­utes and 339 sec­onds. He was lat­er joined by his Heat­wave col­league Ve­lasquez, seal­ing the run­ner-up po­si­tion. Ains­ley Gay, rid­ing for the Evo­lu­tion Cy­cling Acad­e­my, was third, while the trio of Ben Brit­to (Raiders Cy­cle & Mul­ti Sport), Dim­itri James (Raiders Cy­cle & Mul­ti Sport), and Marc Ogiste (Heat­wave) round­ed off the top six fin­ish­ers.

Mean­while, El­isha Greene Jr con­tin­ued to fol­low in the foot­steps of his fa­ther, El­isha Greene Sr, on the bike by tak­ing the gold medal among the ju­ve­niles who were re­quired to com­plete a short­er dis­tance of 64.16 kilo­me­tres. The ju­nior Greene’s crown­ing mo­ment came af­ter an hour, 25 min­utes and 144 sec­onds for Team Cole­safe­ty Cy­cling.

Valkyries’ Theon Kennedy lat­er crossed the fin­ish line for the sec­ond-place spot be­fore Hum­ming­bird In­ter­na­tion­al’s Adri­an Sanchez se­cured third.
