For­mer na­tion­al cy­clist Col­in "Creepy" Wil­son is now bat­tling for his life at the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal fol­low­ing a crash on the open­ing day Good Fri­day of the 2026 East­er In­ter­na­tion­al Cy­cling Grand Prix, which is be­ing staged joint­ly with the Caribbean Cy­cling Cham­pi­onships and the Amer­i­can Track Cy­cling acham­pi­onships.

Wil­son was com­pet­ing in a six-Lap Mas­ters 40-49 event when the crash took place. It is un­der­stood that Wil­son at­tempt­ed to avoid a fall­en cy­clist at Skin­ner Park in San Fer­nan­do but land­ed on the fenc­ing that lined the tracks, cut­ting away at his neck.

The in­ci­dent caused medics and med­ical per­son­nel to rush to his as­sis­tance, as blood flowed pro­fuse­ly.

It was the first event for Wil­son and his group at the cham­pi­onships. It al­so led to a pre­ma­ture end to the event as cy­clists im­me­di­ate­ly packed up their gear and left.

Wil­son was a promi­nent Trinidad and To­ba­go cy­clist, par­tic­u­lar­ly known for his per­for­mances in lo­cal road races and cri­teri­ums dur­ing the late 2000s and ear­ly 2010s. He is a mem­ber of Team Trek. Wil­son was a con­sis­tent top per­former in events or­ga­nized by the Trinidad and To­ba­go Cy­cling Fed­er­a­tion (TTCF).
