Former national cyclist Colin "Creepy" Wilson is now battling for his life at the San Fernando General Hospital following a crash on the opening day Good Friday of the 2026 Easter International Cycling Grand Prix, which is being staged jointly with the Caribbean Cycling Championships and the American Track Cycling achampionships.
Wilson was competing in a six-Lap Masters 40-49 event when the crash took place. It is understood that Wilson attempted to avoid a fallen cyclist at Skinner Park in San Fernando but landed on the fencing that lined the tracks, cutting away at his neck.
The incident caused medics and medical personnel to rush to his assistance, as blood flowed profusely.
It was the first event for Wilson and his group at the championships. It also led to a premature end to the event as cyclists immediately packed up their gear and left.
Wilson was a prominent Trinidad and Tobago cyclist, particularly known for his performances in local road races and criteriums during the late 2000s and early 2010s. He is a member of Team Trek. Wilson was a consistent top performer in events organized by the Trinidad and Tobago Cycling Federation (TTCF).
