Liam D'Abadie and Dwayne Roach retained their titles at the 18th edition of the Rainbow Cup Triathlon at the Black Rock Heritage Park in Courtland, Tobago on Saturday.
D'Abadie captured the men's sprint triathlon event in one hour, four minutes and 13 seconds (1:04:13) improving on his 2024 winning time of 1:09.23. The Fatima College fifth former completed the 750 km swim in 10.19, the 20 km ride in 33.10 and the 5K run in 19.49.
Tristian Scott was second 1:12:48 with Dante Picherry in third (1:15:54) leading a sweep of the top three spots by T&T competitors.
Roach secured back-to-back Olympic distance triathlon honours, finishing the 15 km swim, 40 km ride and 10K run in 2:29.17 ahead of another T&T athlete Marlon Scott (2:48.38) with Russian Oleg Rakitin in third (2:57.25).
Rakitin, who is based in Guyana, was slowed by mechanic issues with his bicycle.
Angela Bayne took the women's sprint triathlon crown (3:16.46) with Petronella Raymond (3:51.40) and Chinara Griffith (3:48.25) the minor spots, respectively.
