Liam D'Abadie and Dwayne Roach re­tained their ti­tles at the 18th edi­tion of the Rain­bow Cup Triathlon at the Black Rock Her­itage Park in Court­land, To­ba­go on Sat­ur­day.

D'Abadie cap­tured the men's sprint triathlon event in one hour, four min­utes and 13 sec­onds (1:04:13) im­prov­ing on his 2024 win­ning time of 1:09.23. The Fa­ti­ma Col­lege fifth for­mer com­plet­ed the 750 km swim in 10.19, the 20 km ride in 33.10 and the 5K run in 19.49.

Tris­t­ian Scott was sec­ond 1:12:48 with Dante Picher­ry in third (1:15:54) lead­ing a sweep of the top three spots by T&T com­peti­tors.

Roach se­cured back-to-back Olympic dis­tance triathlon ho­n­ours, fin­ish­ing the 15 km swim, 40 km ride and 10K run in 2:29.17 ahead of an­oth­er T&T ath­lete Mar­lon Scott (2:48.38) with Russ­ian Oleg Rak­itin in third (2:57.25).

Rak­itin, who is based in Guyana, was slowed by me­chan­ic is­sues with his bi­cy­cle.

An­gela Bayne took the women's sprint triathlon crown (3:16.46) with Petronel­la Ray­mond (3:51.40) and Chi­nara Grif­fith (3:48.25) the mi­nor spots, re­spec­tive­ly.
