Five-time champions and defending titleholders Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) have secured major backing for the upcoming Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season, officially locking in bp Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT) as a key sponsor.
The historic partnership was sealed on Tuesday at a signing ceremony at the Hyatt Regency, Port-of-Spain, marking the energy giant’s first-ever national-level sports sponsorship of this scale.
TKR enter the 2026 campaign riding high as the CPL's most successful franchise, aiming to add a sixth star to their chest. The alliance with bpTT brings powerful local backing to the team as they prepare to battle the region’s best on cricket’s biggest regional stage.
"bpTT is committed to supporting sport, culture and national pride in T&T," said David Campbell, President of bp Latin America and the Caribbean. "We are honoured to come on board as a sponsor of the Trinbago Knight Riders. TKR’s success is based on dedication and a commitment to excellence–qualities that align to our values at bp. We are looking forward to accompanying TKR on their journey to defend their CPL title."
For bpTT, the deal marks a bold expansion of its sports investment strategy. The sponsorship builds on bpTT’s long-standing support for sport, particularly in their fenceline community of Mayaro and Guayaguayare, and represents an expansion of that commitment to a wider national platform.
Coinciding with bpTT’s 65th anniversary of operations in Trinidad and Tobago, company representatives noted that partnering with TKR reflects six and a half decades of shared values, passion, and national pride.
With the 2026 CPL season fast approaching, the defending champions now have the backing of one of the country's biggest corporate giants as they set their sights on back-to-back glory.
