Jordane Dookie moved into the round of 32 on Monday after only her first day of the International Tennis Federation’s (ITF)/Central American and Caribbean JITIC J4 Grade III Tournament in Mexico.

She swept aside Maria Melo of Mexico in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 in the Girls’ Singles, moving her up a notch in the play-off. The tournament, considered her most difficult tournament to date, due to the level of play, pits her against some of the top players in the world.

Only last year, Dookie soared up the ITF rankings by moving from 2,304th to 1,297th when she reached the quarterfinals of the three-leg ITF Junior Circuit at the National Racquet Center (NRC) in Orange Grove, Tacarigua.

Today she will take on another Mexican Maria Dominique Fuenzalida Higareda for a place in the quarterfinals. The Mexican had an easy stroll on her collision course with Dookie, by getting a bye yesterday.

Dookie was also scheduled to spring into action in the doubles yesterday with her partner Fernanda Sandoval of Mexico. To date, the pair has proven to be a force to be reckoned with since their journey to the final of the J4 tourney in April in the Dominican Republic before losing.
