T&T’s Jordane Dookie enjoyed Doubles success, while Kale Dalla Costa tasted defeat in his final when the curtain came down on the International Tennis Federation J30 Summer Bowl Junior Tournament at the National Racquet Centre, Tacarigua on Friday.
In the Girls’ Under-18 Doubles final, Dookie, and her Singles quarterfinal nemesis, Barbadian Serena Bryan, swept past Canadians, Cookie Jarvis-Tredgett, and Aryanah Kahnamoui of Korea 7-5, 6-1.
It was the third Doubles title win of the season for Dookie while she also reached the semifinals in St Vincent and The Grenadines in the Doubles.
Earlier in the week in the semifinals, Dookie and Bryan spanked USA’s Kamora Helton, and Sydney Wright 6-1, 6-2 in their final-four clash while Jarvis-Tredgett, and Kahnamoui, 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 victors against the third-ranked pair of USA’s Aqeela Malik, and Dain Lee of Korea.
However, the un-ranked Dalla Costa, the national Under-16 champion, and USA’s Nicholas Choo went under against Americans, Dillon Beckles, and Easton Horricks,6-4, 2-6, 8-10.
In the semifinals, Dalla Costa and Choo dispatched fourth-ranked duo, Chile’s Yong Chao He Wang, and Hong Kong’s Ling Fung Lionel Ng, 6-4, 6-2 while Beckles, and Horricks, the number one seeded duo battled past Brazilian, Ettore Romeo Baggio Danesi, and USA’s Stefan Correa, 0-6, 7-5(5), 12-10.
On Wednesday night, in the final quarterfinal, Beckles and Horricks overcame USA’s Anthony Hall, and T&T’s Sebastien Byng 6-2, 6-3.
Beckles lifted the Boys’ Singles title defeating top-ranked Danesi 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 in their decider, and in the Girls’ final Jarvis-Tredgett defeated Spain’s Alba Maria Boluda 6-2, 5-7, 6-3.
