De­fend­ing Na­tion­al In­ter-Col cham­pi­ons Fa­ti­ma Col­lege will look to con­tin­ue their march to­wards its the first na­tion­al Sec­ondary Schools Foot­ball League (SS­FL) Boys’ Pre­mier Di­vi­sion ti­tle in 45 years when they en­ter­tain Trin­i­ty Col­lege East at Fa­ti­ma Col­lege Ground, Mu­cu­rapo Road from 3.30 pm on Wednes­day.

Go­ing in­to the round 13 fix­ture, Hut­son Charles-coached two-time (1973 & 1978) na­tion­al league cham­pi­ons Fa­ti­ma Col­lege leads the 16-team ta­ble with 31 points, five ahead of the surg­ing de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons St Bene­dict’s Col­lege and San Juan North Sec­ondary while four-time win­ners Na­pari­ma Col­lege is fourth with 24 points two ahead of the trio of St An­tho­ny’s Col­lege, Pre­sen­ta­tion Col­lege of San Fer­nan­do, and Ari­ma North Sec­ondary, all for­mer past na­tion­al league cham­pi­ons.

For Fa­ti­ma, the task is sim­ple, win two of their re­main­ing three fix­tures which al­so in­cludes ties against Na­pari­ma Col­lege and St Mary’s Col­lege, and they will claim the ti­tle.

But their task to­day will not be an easy one as Trin­i­ty East has proved to be a stur­dy test for most op­po­si­tion all sea­son long and will be buoyed by their 4-2 road win against St An­tho­ny’s Col­lege in­spired by a Khaleem Prince hat trick.

Should Fa­ti­ma slip up, they will leave the door open for St Bene­dict’s who trav­el to low­ly Pleas­antville Sec­ondary at Yolande Pom­pey Recre­ation Ground, and the stut­ter­ing San Juan North Sec­ondary, who are at home to St Mary’s Col­lege to close the gap with ex­pect­ed wins.

In the oth­er key match­es, Queen’s Roy­al Col­lege is at home to Na­pari­ma Col­lege at Mar­aval Road, Pre­sen­ta­tion Col­lege and St An­tho­ny’s Col­lege clash at the Man­nie Ramjohn Sta­di­um, with both teams know­ing a de­feat for ei­ther will end any math­e­mat­i­cal chance of the ti­tle win while Ari­ma North Sec­ondary is at home to Bish­op’s at the Ari­ma Mu­nic­i­pal Sta­di­um, Ari­ma.
