Guade­loupe has with­drawn from the up­com­ing 2021 Con­ca­caf Beach Soc­cer Cham­pi­onship which takes place in Ala­juela, Cos­ta Ri­ca from May 17-23.

The tour­na­ment was orig­i­nal­ly ex­pect­ed to fea­ture 12 teams but will now be con­test­ed be­tween 11 na­tions with T&T com­ing up against USA, host Cos­ta Ri­ca and Turks and Caicos Is­lands in Group C at the Com­ple­jo De­porti­vo FEDE­FUT­BOL Plycem.

T&T opens its cam­paign ver­sus Cos­ta Ri­ca on, May 17, be­fore fac­ing USA a day lat­er and Turks and Caicos Is­lands in their fi­nal match.

Group A com­pris­es de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Mex­i­co, Pana­ma, and Be­lize while Group B con­sist of El Sal­vador, Ba­hamas, Guatemala, and the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic.

Af­ter round-robin play be­tween May 17-19, the first and sec­ond-place fin­ish­ers in each group and the two best third-place fin­ish­ers will ad­vance to the knock­out stage.

The knock­out stage will be­gin with the quar­ter­fi­nal match­es on May 21, fol­lowed by the semi­fi­nals on May 22. In ad­di­tion to qual­i­fy­ing for the com­pe­ti­tion’s fi­nal, the two semi­fi­nal win­ners will earn a spot in the FI­FA Beach Soc­cer World Cup Rus­sia 2021. The fi­nal is sched­uled for May 23.

The FI­FA Beach Soc­cer World Cup is sched­uled to take place Au­gust 19–29, 2021, in Moscow, Rus­sia at which 16 FI­FA Mem­ber As­so­ci­a­tions (two from Con­ca­caf) will par­tic­i­pate.

The T&T squad is cur­rent­ly in train­ing un­der Span­ish coach Ramiro Amarelle.

The for­mer Barcelona and Span­ish beach foot­ball star Amarelle was ap­point­ed head coach of the na­tion­al team and along with his as­sis­tant coach and an­a­lyst Jaime Paz and Maria Gor­do, an­oth­er as­sis­tant and men­tal coach in Feb­ru­ary.

The 43-year old Amarelle has been asked with lead­ing T&T to the World Cup for the first time.

T&T has reached the quar­ter­fi­nals of the Con­ca­caf event three times, in 2015, 2017 and 2019 and for this year Amarelle, who is al­so a FI­FA in­struc­tor and ad­vi­sor and holds a UE­FA Pro Li­cense coach­ing badge says he is tar­get­ing this coun­try to its best-ever fin­ish.
