Dwight Hayling was named 'Man-of-the-Match' af­ter he led Ari­ma Elites to a nail-bit­ing sev­en-run win over Head­quar­ters North Red Rock­ets to se­cure their first ti­tle in the T&T Fire Ser­vice North­ern Di­vi­sion 12 Overs Wind­ball Crick­et Cham­pi­onship Fi­nal host­ed by the T&T Fire Ser­vice Crick­et Club at Con­stan­tine Park, Tu­na­puna, on Sat­ur­day.

Ari­ma Elites won the toss and chose to bat first and post­ed 88 for the loss of six wick­ets aid­ed by a top score of 19 ex­tras, while El­win Mitchell got 17, Jesse Mar­tinez 15, Ren­ni­son Ram­sey 13, and Hayling 11 as they made a chal­leng­ing to­tal.

Bowl­ing for five-time fi­nal­ist Red Rock­ets, the quar­tet of Kurt Quam­i­na, Roger Good­ing, Gio­van­ni Sylvester and Erol Burke each picked up one wick­et.

In their run chase, Red Rock­ets just fell short by sev­en runs de­spite the valiant ef­forts of Sylvester, who made a bat­tling 39 runs from 35 balls and shared three key part­ner­ships: first of 11 runs with fel­low open­er Ravi Quam­i­na, then 20 with Adasha Nor­ton, who made ten, and fi­nal­ly, all 30 with Kiel Mur­ray, in the los­ing ef­fort with 11 runs com­ing via ex­tras.

For Ari­ma Elites, Hayling bowled three tight overs and took two wick­ets for nine runs, in­clud­ing the vi­tal scalp of Sylvester, while Mitchell, Kelvin Headley and Mar­tinez got one wick­et each.

For Red Rock­ets, the loss ex­tend­ed their win­less record in the tour­na­ment fi­nals to five, hav­ing al­so end­ed as run­ner-up in 2013, 2017, 2018 and 2024.

In the first semi­fi­nal on Sun­day, April 26, Head­quar­ters North Red Rock­ets se­cured a spot in the ti­tle match for the fifth time af­ter bat­tling past the 8-4 Blaz­ers by 11 runs while Ari­ma Elites dumped five-time win­ners Head­quar­ters Blue Steel by 43 runs.

Pri­or to the fi­nal on Sat­ur­day, the third-place match, Blue Steel se­cured the third spot by beat­ing the 8-4 Blaz­ers by 40 runs.
