Champion horse in T&T, Hello World, put on a show at Santa Rosa Park in Arima last Sunday (July 20) when galloping with stablemate and Midsummer Classic aspirant Soca Ecstasy over 1,000 metres, on the main track at Santa Rosa Park, Arima.
The Poon Tip Stud Farm-owned Hello World was always in command and controlled the gallop from the off. Soca Ecstacy carried herself appreciably for the first 600m but the power and strength of the talented Hello World came to the fore in the final 300m of the gallop.
Hello World quickened up nicely in the final 200m but Soca Ecstacy could not match the pace of the powerful Hello World who registered the good time of one minute and 01.60 seconds for the trip while Soca Ecstacy registered the time of 1:03.00 flat. Soca Ecstacy will meet the unbeaten three-year-old Headliner in her chase for the second leg of local racing's Triple Crown - the Midsummer Classic on Friday (August 1).
The "Horse of the Year" for the past two years, Hello World, will be in a match-race against stable-companion Crown Prince at Santa Rosa Park.
Striking Chrome went well over 1,000m when racing over the distance in 1:04.40. He travelled well and stayed on well in the final 300 metres.
Last year's Stewards Cup winner Sneaky Cheeky went well over 1,000m when she recorded the time of 1:4.85 for her gallop. She looked well and will go close in her race on Friday.
O'Brien also sent out Crown Prince and his talented three-year-olds, who put on good displays last Sunday.
Sydney and Bourbon Blitz galloped together and both looked very well as they recorded a time of 50.66 seconds for the journey. Have A Great Day travelled well and was slower than the pair, registering a time of 52.90.
Crown Prince paced over 800m in 59.95 seconds and looks set to take on the champion.
