Care­nage Blasters moved to the top of the Ca­roni Zone Open Ta­ble Ten­nis League with a 3-1 win over Cou­va B on Wednes­day night at T&TEC Sports Club, Wood­brook.

A for­mer Caribbean Ju­nior Ta­ble Ten­nis Cham­pi­onship medal win­ner and re­cent Top Six fin­ish­er in the Su­per Sin­gles at the Na­tion­al Rack­et Cen­tre, Tacarigua, Luc O’Young brushed aside Ra­jku­mar Beep­at 11-5, 11-5, 11-4 and Rachad Singh 11-4, 11-7, 11-3 while Nicholas Lee spanked Singh 11-5, 11-4, 11-2 for Blasters three wins.

Ron­nie Gue­vara got Cou­va B’s win on the night, 12-10, 11-8, 3-11, 5-11, 11-9 against Nicholas O’Young.

The 3-1 vic­to­ry lift­ed Blasters to a 4-1 record and nine points, one ahead of the un­beat­en Queen’s Park Crick­et Club (4-0) while War­renville Unit­ed and D’Abadie Youths al­so have eight points, but from 3-2 records.

On Tues­day, Sher­don Pierre won both his match­es to lead D’Abadie Youths to a sim­i­lar 3-1 beat­ing of War­renville Unit­ed B at the D’Abadie Com­mu­ni­ty Cen­tre, D’Abadie, Ari­ma.

Pierre beat Adesh Ram­phalie 13-11, 11-9, 11-6 and Vase­sh Ram­phalie 11-7, 11-5, 13-11.

Carlisle Cleve­land had the oth­er win for D’Abadie Youths, 9-11, 11-8, 11-9, 4-11, 11-18 against Ase­sh Ram­phalie while Shahi­ja­han Khan de­feat­ed Daryl Ram­per­sad 12-10, 7-11, 12-10, 11-6 for War­renville’s lone win.
