Former national midfielder Leslie Fitzpatrick, appointed a scout for T&T.

For­mer Na­tion­al strik­er and mid­field­er Er­rol Mc Far­lane and Leslie Fitz­patrick, have been se­lect­ed as part of a pool of scouts to iden­ti­fy foot­ball tal­ent in North Amer­i­ca, for the T&T team.

A re­lease from the T&T Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion on Tues­day said the duo were among 16 oth­er scouts ap­point­ed to spot tal­ent, based on their in-depth knowl­edge of the sport in T&T at the na­tion­al team lev­el, among oth­er ca­pa­bil­i­ties for the Tal­ent Iden­ti­fi­ca­tion and Play­er Pool Pro­gramme (TIPP).

The oth­er play­ers ap­point­ed as scouts are- Prince Bor­de, Stephen Chase, Ash­ton Bap­tiste, My­ron Gar­nes, Kevon Isa, An­tho­ny Lam­bert, Daniel McK­ell, Nigel My­ers, Ken­rick Ramirez, Wen­dell Reg­is, Ivan Samp­son, Marc An­tho­ny-William, Lu­mum­ba Shabazz and Ker­nell Bor­neo.

Mean­while, Sean Pow­der and Justin Reid were al­so ap­point­ed di­rec­tors of the TIPP, the re­lease said.

Mc Far­lane, Fitz­patrick and com­pa­ny were ap­point­ed based on the TTFA's set cri­te­ria, which in­cludes: Must have an in-depth knowl­edge of foot­ball in T&T at the na­tion­al team lev­el and must be ac­tive in coach­ing soc­cer in the Unit­ed States: must have a keen eye for de­tail when ob­serv­ing prospects: must be ac­tive­ly pur­su­ing a coach­ing li­cense: must have coached in a club or clubs across the U.S: must be a Trin­bag­on­ian or of Trin­bag­on­ian de­scent: must have strong in­ter­per­son­al skills to con­nect with prospects: and must have the abil­i­ty to make nu­mer­ous de­ci­sions when re­cruit­ing.

The scouts will have five key re­spon­si­bil­i­ties, name­ly- Eval­u­at­ing play­ers of Trin­bag­on­ian de­scent in schools across North Amer­i­ca and sub­mit­ting prospects to Co­or­di­na­tor in the re­gion, mon­i­tor­ing news sources, at­tend games, and speak with coach­es to lo­cate prospec­tive play­ers, watch game footage of play­ers and study sta­tis­tics to de­ter­mine the play­er’s po­ten­tial.

They will al­so be re­spon­si­ble for meet­ing with play­ers and their fam­i­lies to dis­cuss the TIPP pro­gram and ben­e­fits of the TTFA youth na­tion­al teams, as well as col­lect­ing play­er and coach­ing in­for­ma­tion of Trin­bag­o­ni­ans in North Amer­i­ca and sub­mit­ting it to the di­rec­tor.
