Miguel, Morrison 9th in NORCECA U-23 beach vball

T&T's Jahreef Miguel and Jerome Mor­ri­son end­ed their cam­paign on a high with a ninth-place fin­ish in the Un­der-23 NORCE­CA Beach Vol­ley­ball Tour at Sev­en Miles Beach, Grand Cay­man, Cay­man Is­lands on Sun­day (June 22).

This af­ter Miguel and Mor­ri­son out­last­ed Bar­ba­di­ans Nkoys Williams and Aaron Tay­lor, the win­ners of the U-21 boys' ti­tle on Thurs­day at the same venue, 17-21, 21-17, 15-13 in 44 min­utes.

Fac­ing off with Ja­maicans Love-Let Bake and Ithran Soft­ley in the ninth to 12th semi­fi­nals, Miguel and Mor­ri­son tri­umphed 21-10, 21-12 while Williams and Tay­lor de­feat­ed Arubans The­lion Coutin­ho and Je­an­dre Kock 21-17, 23-21.

Ear­li­er in the round-robin pool play, Miguel and Mor­ri­son de­feat­ed US Vir­gin Is­lands' Ar­mani An­der­son and Aden Ro­jas 21-10, 21-11 in Pool A, but fell to both Cay­man Is­lands' Stephen Wat­son and Dy­lan Lynee 18-21, 12-21 and Cana­da's Bran­don Burn­side and Reed Ven­ning 11-21, 11-21.

How­ev­er, the T&T women's duo of Mee­ka John­son and L'fe Roberts missed out on a top ten fin­ish in the 14th team tour­na­ment af­ter they were beat­en by ninth to 12th semi­fi­nal by Cana­da-B's Claire Nea­gle and Nolyn Houbeen in three sets, 19-21, 21-17, 15-12 in 46 min­utes while Cay­man Is­lands-B duo, Lu­na Ebanks and Bri­an­na De­lapen­ha de­fault­ed against US Vir­gin Is­lands' D'Keisha Jor­dan and Brook­lyn Dono­van.

John­son and Roberts then won their 11th spot play­off over Jor­dan and Dono­van, 21-17, 21-14 in 33 min­utes.

When the tour­na­ment served off on Fri­day, John­son and Roberts were out­played in their Pool A match­es, first by Bermu­dans Megan Hands and Hai­ley Moss 7-21, 15-21 and then by Cay­man Is­lands' Joan­na Robin­son and An­jia De­lapen­ha 21-19, 8-21, 10-15.
