Michael Mouttet and Richard Jardine scored a goal each as defending champion Murphy Clarke had narrow 1-0 wins over Cookkin Vibez and Sprint Maintenance Services, respectively, in the Over-60 Division in the Queen's Park Cricket Club 8-A-Side Football Tournament at the Queen's Park Oval in St Clair, Port-of-Spain.
Firstly, Mouttet netted his winner on Friday night in the win over Cookkin Vibez, while on Monday, Jardine got the lone item against Sprint Maintenance Services as Murphy Clarke won for the fourth time in as many matches, to remain the lone team with a 100 percent winning record and climb to a maximum of 12 points on the four-team round-robin table, seven ahead of Carib.
In the 54 to 60 age group, House Hunters dropped points for the second straight match in a goalless battle with titleholders All Out Sports Bar but stayed top of the seven-club table with 11 points from five matches, four more than SAS which blanked Steel Drum behind a brace from Sean Ramdoo, his fourth and fifth goals of the competition.
Ansa Bank, the defending champions in the 36 to 45 Division, got back to winning ways in a 3-0 spanking of Kyra Investments with a goal each from Devon Modeste, David Rees, and Shavak Ramberan to carry its points total to 13 from five matches, six ahead of Degree and Harts.
Q Power Battery held onto its narrow lead with eight points, one ahead of Ultimate Events and titleholders Precision Cyber Technologies despite being held to a 0-0 by Stag.
In the 35 and Under Division, The Pouch Company made it two straight wins after dropping its first points by beating BMWs 1-0 thanks to a strike from Winston Guerra and then pounding King Sings 6-0 led by a double from Guerra, and one apiece from Sean De Silva, Jason Devenish, John Aboud and Mikkel Mark Govia to lead with 12 points, one ahead of Karcher who crushed Tribe 5-0 inspired by a hat trick from Andrew Abraham, the second of the competition, and one each from Dillon Abraham, and Charles Hadden.
This year's tournament sponsored by Platinum and Gold Sponsors in Carib Beer and BMW Trinidad, respectively features 32 sponsored teams competing across five age groups with the finals set for October 6. The matches continue weekly every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5.30 pm on each day.
