The competitive distance running calendar for T&T’s 2026 athletics season will officially begin with the National Cross Country Championships 2025, announced by the National Association of Athletics Administrations of T&T (NAAATT) in a release yesterday.
The premier cross-country event is scheduled for Saturday (December 13) at the traditional venue, the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain.
The championships serve as a crucial early-season test, attracting a wide field of athletes from junior to masters categories eager to establish early dominance. Over the years, the event has featured the country’s elite endurance athletes, including recent standouts like Nicholas Romany, Tafari Waldron, and Samantha Shukla, showcasing the depth of distance talent in T&T.
A strong turnout is anticipated as clubs and unattached athletes prepare to brave the challenging Savannah course.
NAAATT, in the release, invited athletes, clubs, families, and supporters to take part and help celebrate the continued development of distance running in T&T.
The day’s events are staggered to accommodate various age groups and distances, starting at 2 pm.
