Pitch­men FC and Moru­ga/Table­land Sam­ba Youths be­came the first two qual­i­fiers to this year's South­ern Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion (SFA) Pre­mier Di­vi­sion 'Big Six' com­pe­ti­tion af­ter com­fort­able wins in their re­spec­tive round-robin groups on the week­end of Oc­to­ber 7-8.

On Sat­ur­day at the Ma­haica Oval in Point Fortin, Pitch­men led by a hat trick from Joash Baird stormed to a 5-1 de­feat of for­mer cham­pi­ons Li­on Heart in Group A.

For­mer na­tion­al mid­field­er An­drei Pacheco and Joroan Ri­ley added a goal each for Pitch­men while Jazeel Duntin got Li­on Heart's lone re­ply.

More im­por­tant­ly for Pitch­men, the win lift­ed their points tal­ly to 31 from 11 match­es, 11 ahead of Point Fortin Civic Cen­tre who have two match­es in hand while De­porti­vo PF is third with 16 points from 11 match­es.

Fourth-placed Up­ris­ing Youths with 15 points from nine match­es can on­ly at­tain 28 points should they win their re­main­ing five match­es, putting Pitch­ment out of reach and cer­tain to fin­ish among the top three.

In the oth­er Group A match, Omari Cob­ham and his broth­er Jah­mali Cob­ham were both among the goals along with Akeem Red­head to lead Point Fortin Civic Cen­tre to a 3-0 de­feat of De­porti­vo to re­main in the sec­ond spot and on course for a 'Big Six' spot as well.

In Group B, lead­ers Moru­ga/Table­land Sam­ba Youths got a goal each from Irvin Williams, Je­re­my Spann, At­i­ba Charles and Kerdell Pierre in their 4-1 whip­ping of Moru­ga FC who got its lone re­ply from Zion Bain at Gran Chemin ground, Moru­ga on Sun­day

With the win, their ninth from ten match­es, Moru­ga/Table­land climbed to 28 points, five clear of Mas­call Foot­ball Acad­e­my while Erin FC is the on­ly oth­er team that can sur­pass the lead­ers with 21 points from 11 match­es, five more than fourth-placed Dream Team who on­ly have three match­es re­main­ing.

Mas­call FA was award­ed a 3-0 de­fault win over Pe­nal Is Love Youth Move­ment while Erin FC slammed Merikins Youth Acad­e­my 11-0 with Dar­ron Alex­is fir­ing in a beaver trick.

The pair of Ke­sean Ja­cob and Ka­mali Pe­ters added braces for Erin FC while Kevin Seales, Leon Mitchell and Flex Lewis al­so got one each.
