Friday's thrilling 6-2 win for the Soca Warriors over St Kitts & Nevis in Group B of the World Cup Qualifiers at the Hasely Crawford Stadium is being praised by many, including Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
Yesterday, the Prime Minister took to her Facebook page to congratulate the T&T team who will, on Tuesday face Costa Rica in San Jose in their final match for a place among the top two teams in the group to progress to the final round of the Concacaf Qualifiers.
Persad-Bissessar described it as "a victory for all of T&T".
"The entire team must be praised for their determination and hard work in ensuring our national flag is flown high and proudly. Dante Sealy must be specially congratulated for scoring two of these goals. Levi Garcia, Kevin Molino, Ajani Fortune, and Nathaniel James, each scoring a goal, also deserve special mention," the Prime Minister said in her Facebook letter.
She also hailed coach Dwight Yorke, saying his strategic and diligent work which ensured the Soca Warriors' victory must also be praised.
"As we now set our sights on San Jose on June 10, 2025, where the Soca Warriors will play another World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica, I wish our team the best," the letter added.
Yorke took over from Angus Eve in November last year, and to date, in eight matches, has a record of three wins, one draw, and four losses. Apart from Tuesday's match, the Soca Warriors will also contest the Concacaf Gold Cup in the United States and Canada from June 14-July 6, where they will first play in a group that features the US, Haiti and Saudi Arabia.
