Kumar Rampat, Cricket West Indies (CWI) Territorial Development Officer for T&T, will be hosting a first aid course for cricket coaches.
Rampat, the highly respected coach who works out of the Kumar Rampat Coaching Academy says that it is high time that coaches have the capability of at least the basic first aid course because they become first respondents when something happens on the playing field.
According to Rampat: "Coaches need this knowledge because they work a lot with young children and sometimes they are the only adult that is around at training. This is very important and in our thrust to become a professional cricket nation, we must entertain courses like this to put our coaches in a better position.”
Interested coaches must contact the T&T Cricket Board to register and the first meeting to seek information on course will be held on June 14 at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Balmain at 6 pm.
Rampat said that tentatively he wants the course to be conducted around the third week of June. Those coaches who are already in the system and those who have just completed the two foundation courses are the ones being targeted for this course.
Rampat also added that those coaches who want to do the CWI Coaching Level I course should also attend the meeting. The prerequisite of the level I course is that the interested coach must complete the child protection course.
* Must complete first aid course
* Certificate of good character
The Level I course will take place in mid-July and application for this course must go into the CWI one month prior to the start of the course.
