Ku­mar Ram­pat, Crick­et West In­dies (CWI) Ter­ri­to­r­i­al De­vel­op­ment Of­fi­cer for T&T, will be host­ing a first aid course for crick­et coach­es.

Ram­pat, the high­ly re­spect­ed coach who works out of the Ku­mar Ram­pat Coach­ing Acad­e­my says that it is high time that coach­es have the ca­pa­bil­i­ty of at least the ba­sic first aid course be­cause they be­come first re­spon­dents when some­thing hap­pens on the play­ing field.

Ac­cord­ing to Ram­pat: "Coach­es need this knowl­edge be­cause they work a lot with young chil­dren and some­times they are the on­ly adult that is around at train­ing. This is very im­por­tant and in our thrust to be­come a pro­fes­sion­al crick­et na­tion, we must en­ter­tain cours­es like this to put our coach­es in a bet­ter po­si­tion.”

In­ter­est­ed coach­es must con­tact the T&T Crick­et Board to reg­is­ter and the first meet­ing to seek in­for­ma­tion on course will be held on June 14 at the Na­tion­al Crick­et Cen­tre (NCC) in Bal­main at 6 pm.

Ram­pat said that ten­ta­tive­ly he wants the course to be con­duct­ed around the third week of June. Those coach­es who are al­ready in the sys­tem and those who have just com­plet­ed the two foun­da­tion cours­es are the ones be­ing tar­get­ed for this course.

Ram­pat al­so added that those coach­es who want to do the CWI Coach­ing Lev­el I course should al­so at­tend the meet­ing. The pre­req­ui­site of the lev­el I course is that the in­ter­est­ed coach must com­plete the child pro­tec­tion course.

The Lev­el I course will take place in mid-Ju­ly and ap­pli­ca­tion for this course must go in­to the CWI one month pri­or to the start of the course.
