Je­lani Roberts reg­is­tered five goals and Ja­heem Ben­jamin a hat-trick to lead For­rester Foot­ball to an em­phat­ic 13-3 thump­ing of Hamil­ton Hawks in Week Three of the South South Zone in the West Penn Is­land­wide Com­mu­ni­ty Youth (Un­der-21) Foot­ball Tour­na­ment.

Com­pet­ing at the Grand Chemin Recre­ation Ground in the 32-team tour­na­ment host­ed by the West Penn Cen­ter for Sports and Cul­ture and held in con­junc­tion with RBC Roy­al Bank of T&T.

Roberts got his goals in the 55th, 61st, 80th, 85th, and 89th min­utes while Ben­jamin net­ted his goals in the 22nd, 26th, and 77th.

Chad Fran­cois added a pair of goals for For­rester Foot­ball in the 63rd, and 89th min­utes while Nigel Cow­an (33rd), Josi­ah Bar­ring­ton (39th), and Ja­heim Ar­rindell (79th) chipped in with one each with Hamil­ton Hawks get­ting a goal each from Jo­evon George (16th), An­dell Al­leyne (50th), and Kaiel Coop­er (60th).

In the oth­er match in the South Zone, Mas­call Foot­ball Acad­e­my ‘A’ crushed Mas­call Foot­ball Acad­e­my ‘B’ 7-0 led by Je­re­mi­ah Ot­t­away’s hat-trick in the 24th, 47th, and 49th min­utes.

The quar­tet of Akano Syd­ney (18th), Matthew-Lee Cum­mings (33rd), La Bron Williams (63rd) and Alex Wilkin­son (83rd) al­so net­ted for Mas­call Foot­ball Acad­e­my ‘A’ in the one-sided con­test.

This year’s tour­na­ment fea­tures teams com­pet­ing in the Near East (San­ta Cruz, Po­lice Bar­racks, Africa Ground En­ter­prise Ch­agua­nas); Far East (Ed­die Hart Sa­van­nah); North/East (Va­len­cia Grande To­ci Man­zanil­la Grounds); South Cen­tral (Leo Thomp­son Ground Gas­par­il­lo); South West (Erin Ground, Guapo Recre­ation Ground) and South (Gran Chemin Recre­ation Ground).

At the con­clu­sion of the 32-team pre­lim­i­nary zon­al round-robin for­mat, the best 16 teams will ad­vance to the knock­out round which will be con­test­ed on a home-and-away ba­sis fol­lowed by the quar­ter­fi­nals, semi­fi­nals and fi­nal day third place and fi­nal on Au­gust 16.

This year, more than $70,000 in cash prizes along with tro­phies, medals and cer­tifi­cates will be on of­fer to the par­tic­i­pat­ing teams.

In ad­di­tion to the league match­es, there are al­so plans for a post-tour­na­ment All Star Team recog­ni­tion through scout­ing which will help show­case their tal­ents for lo­cal and for­eign coach­es in ex­hi­bi­tion games fea­tur­ing zon­al rep­re­sen­ta­tive teams.
